About Us

Smithfield Crash and Mechanical Repairs is one of the largest and well-respected crash repairs in the northern suburbs. Covering over one acre and employing more than 30 staff members, Smithfield Crash have a RAA and MTA approved crash repair and mechanical workshop. They have the equipment, technology and expertise to carry out a wide range of services and maintenance for today’s vehicles.

 

Health and Safety

The overriding priority of Smithfield Crash and Mechanical Repairs is protecting the health and safety of all its employees, service providers, customers and visitors. Consistent with this, Smithfield Crash complies with all applicable Health and Safety laws and regulations. This is led and supported by management.

 

Environment

Paint and Painting Equipment - Smithfield Crash use the latest technology Spies Hecker Aqua Base paint products, as water based paints are safer for the  environment and more workplace friendly. New specially designed and custom built spray booths and low bake ovens reduce solvent emissions into the workplace and the atmosphere. Smithfield Crash comply with the latest EPA standards.

Environmentally Friendly Car Wash - When it comes to cleaning, Smithfield Crash have a modern and environmentally friendly process. The water used in the wash bays goes into a separation tank to remove any oil or solvents, protecting our waterways.

Recycling - Smithfield Crash recycle most wastes materials including paper, cardboard, oils, tyres and metals.

 

History (1966 - Present)

Smithfield Crash and Mechanical Repairs was opened in 1966, trading under the name Smithfield Crash Repairs and located approximately 300m from the current location. Within a few years, the premises became too small and larger residence was found three doors down the street.

In 1972, along with a name change to Smithfield Motor Company, came the addition of mechanical repairs. In 1987, the current proprietors purchased the business. Throughout the 1990s many more renovations and extensions occurred as the business continued to grow in stature. With the new millennium came a new name. Now with over 40 years of service and more than 40 employees, Smithfield Crash and Mechanical Repairs continues to grow and service the needs of the community.
